The Virginia Scenic Railway offers memorable train excursions departing from both Louisa, Virginia and Staunton, Virginia, inviting guests to relax aboard stylish renovated passengers cars and enjoy unique experiences. With a variety of excursions offered throughout the year, guests can choose from a traditional scenic ride out of Staunton, or an upscale Sunday Brunch from Louisa.

Both departure locations feature adult-only excursion, including popular beverage tasting experiences such as Sip & Savor and Ales & Rails, designed for guests to enjoy a relaxed, social outing. In addition, the Virginia Scenic Railway offers family-friendly options, like the holiday season Santa Express or our year round ride and dine trains.

With multiple locations, seasonal offerings, and a wide ranger of excursions to choose from, we offer something for everyone. Whether you are planning a special night out, a family outing, or a one-of-a-kind rail adventure.

Alleghany Special

This excursion ventures west from historic Staunton through beautiful rolling fields of the Shenandoah Valley, on a destination bound for the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests. This excursion turns around in the hamlet of Goshen, in western Rockbridge County. Duration: Three hours.

Blue Ridge Flyer

Climb aboard the Blue Ridge Flyer, and head east for an opportunity to experience the thrill of roaring through the Blue Ridge Tunnel, carved out of rock hundreds of feet below the mountain summit above. The train will turn around in Ivy in Albemarle County. Duration: Three hours.

Louisa Flyer

This laid-back excursion departs from Louisa, Virginia, traveling west along the tracks towards the outskirts of Ivy before beginning the return journey.
