Enjoy a freshly prepared, sit-down meal aboard the Virginia Scenic Railway. We take pride in our food and our service.
Treat yourself to a memorable bistro-style meal aboard our signature excursion trains, the Alleghany Special and the Blue Ridge Flyer.
All meals, plated and boxed, must be ordered in advance. Selections are made when making your reservation. Once you’re on board, we’ll already know your choice and we will deliver it to your table so you can sit back and enjoy the ride.
For those with dietary restrictions, when making your dining selection please add special concerns in the comment section. Due to the nature of our food service facilities on the train, we cannot guarantee that there will be no cross contamination with possible allergens like nuts or gluten. Dining Class
Entrees (April – July)
Spring Chicken and Quinoa Bowl (gluten free)
Quinoa and brown wild rice simmered in vegetable broth with black beans, tomato, cucumber, and onion, topped with marinated grilled chicken, fresh avocado, Mediterranean spices, and rosemary seasoning. (Can be ordered without chicken)
Honey BBQ Pulled-Pork Sandwich
Tender pulled pork glazed in a sweet honey barbeque sauce, served on a toasted brioche bun. Paired with crisp coleslaw and seasoned roasted potatoes.
Smoked Turkey Panini
Smoked turkey, cheese, bacon, and aioli dressing on pumpernickel. Served with potato salad and a tomato, sweet cucumber and onion mix.
Creamy Chicken and Vegetable Soup
Chicken, carrots, celery, and fresh herbs in a light creamy broth. Served with a warm dinner roll and a side salad.

Veggie Pita Wrap
A fresh and flavorful veggie wrap featuring a tomato basil tortilla, sautéed peppers, mushrooms, and onions, crisp cucumbers, and a creamy homemade hummus or for the perfect blend of textures and tastes.
Club Sandwich
A triple-stacked favorite layered with roasted turkey, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, and cheddar on brioche bread, served with mayonnaise for a perfectly satisfying bite.
CRAFT BEER, WINE & CIDER
We regularly partner with local wineries and breweries across the Shenandoah Valley to stock a variety of your local favorites as well as our own house label wine. You will be able to order beer or wine for your excursion at an additional price in select classes of service onboard. Passengers must be 21 and over to be able to purchase alcohol.
Alcohol is only available is select classes of service, not all options are available in all classes.

Their flagship semi-sweet cider blend of modern and vintage Virginia-grown apple varieties. A balanced and fruit forward cider to lead the way. Crisp and fruity; this staple pairs well with rich cheeses, spicy food, and salty snacks. ABV: 7.1%

2024 Railway White / Virginia Scenic Railway
Dry and medium bodied. 100% Albariño ages in stainless steel. Peach and citrus notes.
2022 Railway Red / Virginia Scenic Railway
Dry medium bodied red blend. Bordeaux style, with notes of red fruit.
2024 Railway Rosé / Virginia Scenic Railway
Dry rosé made with cabernet franc. Notes of citrus and grapefruit. Bright and light.
Red Wine Sangria / Virginia Scenic Railway
Cabernet Franc blended with fruit and citrus juice. Served over ice. Bright, and refreshing.
2022 Petit Manseng / Wisdom Oak Winery
A semi-sweet wine aged for 9 months in stainless steel. Notes of honey and tropical fruit.
CRAFT BEER
Skyline Lager / Seven Arrows Brewing
Low in bitterness, our lager has a great noble hop aroma and subtle pilsner malt notes. This beer is a truly refreshing light beer that is perfect for any occasion. ABV: 4.7%
Alpha Decay Hazy DIPA/ Basic City Beer Co.
Brewed with Azacca and Citra hops, this beer bursts with pear and citrus aromas. It offers bold fruit flavors balanced by a touch of bitterness, a fuller body, and a smooth mouthfeel. The result is an easy-drinking DIPA that showcases everything you want in a well-balanced Hazy DIPA. ABV: 9.2%

Aboard the Virginia Scenic Railway, you’ll get a front-row seat to some of Virginia’s prettiest views, including the legendary Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Depending on the excursion you choose, you’ll roar through tunnels, speed over bridges, race past scenic fields and forests, and climb over mountains.
