Enjoy a freshly prepared, sit-down meal aboard the Virginia Scenic Railway. Our food and beverage options are designed to delight your taste buds as you speed through the countryside. Every table offers a terrific view, and we take pride in our food and our service.
Treat yourself to a memorable bistro-style meal aboard our signature excursion trains, the Alleghany Special and the Blue Ridge Flyer. Your ticket on either of these excursions includes a meal and dessert selection, plus a non-alcoholic beverage (coffee, soda, tea, and water) served in a complimentary souvenir glass.
All meals must be ordered in advance. Selections are made when making your reservation. Once you’re on board, we’ll already know your choice of main course and we will deliver it to your table so you can sit back and enjoy the ride.
For those with dietary restrictions, when making your dining selection please add special concerns in the comment section. Due to the nature of our food service facilities on the train, we cannot guarantee that there will be no cross contamination with possible allergens like nuts or gluten. Main Course
Smoked Turkey & Ham Sandwich <Alleghany Special only>
Featuring smoked turkey, ham, cheddar cheese, bacon aioli, mixed greens, and tomatoes on focaccia bread. Served with a side of red-skinned potato salad.
Carolina-Style Pulled-Pork BBQ Sandwich
Pulled pork BBQ, seasoned with a homemade rub and smoked until tender and juicy. Served on a brioche bun, with fried onions and homemade barbecue sauce. Served with homemade southern-style coleslaw.
Chili Bread Bowl
Three bean chili bread bowl, featuring homemade three-bean chili served in a sourdough bread bowl. It’s topped with hickory bacon, a three-cheese medley, chopped scallions, and sour cream, then baked to add a light crunch.
Harvest Turkey Salad
A blend of mixed greens, fresh-cut apples, roasted walnuts, cranberries, and smoked turkey, all tossed in a delightful apple cider maple vinaigrette.
Smoked Turkey Dinner <Blue Ridge Flyer only>
Featuring smoked turkey served with mashed sweet potatoes, roasted turkey gravy, French cut green beans and a fresh, warm dinner roll with a side of apple butter.

Get Your Ticket To Ride
Aboard the Virginia Scenic Railway, you’ll get a front-row seat to some of Virginia’s prettiest views, including the legendary Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Depending on the excursion you choose, you’ll roar through tunnels, speed over bridges, race past scenic fields and forests, and climb over mountains.
