Enjoy a freshly prepared, sit-down meal aboard the Virginia Scenic Railway. We take pride in our food and our service.
Treat yourself to a memorable bistro-style meal aboard our signature excursion trains, the Alleghany Special and the Blue Ridge Flyer. Your ticket on either of these excursions includes a meal and dessert selection, plus a non-alcoholic beverage (coffee, soda, tea, and water) served in a complimentary souvenir glass.
All meals must be ordered in advance. Selections are made when making your reservation. Once you’re on board, we’ll already know your choice of main course and we will deliver it to your table so you can sit back and enjoy the ride.
For those with dietary restrictions, when making your dining selection please add special concerns in the comment section. Due to the nature of our food service facilities on the train, we cannot guarantee that there will be no cross contamination with possible allergens like nuts or gluten. Greek Chicken Shish-Kabob
Tender marinated chicken seasoned with a blend of lemon juice, balsamic vinaigrette, olive oil, garlic, basil, and oregano, then grilled to perfection and served on skewers. Creamy Tzatziki sauce on the side, fragrant Mediterranean rice, and a small Greek salad with pita bread.
Italian Panini
Fresh-baked ciabatta that’s stacked with layers of savory cured meats, creamy provolone, and roasted red peppers, then finished with pesto and a drizzle of Italian vinaigrette, then toasted for the perfect flavor combination. Served with a Greek side salad and crispy potato chips.
Fresh Spring Salad with Chicken
A blend of spring mix greens, topped with smoked chicken, sweet strawberries, cucumbers, sweet white onions, and candied walnuts. Served with a side of creamy poppy seed dressing for the perfect touch of sweetness and tang. (Can be ordered without chicken)
Zuppa Toscana
Hearty and delicious soup made from Italian sausage and potatoes simmered in a flavorful Italian-seasoned broth. Finished with a drizzle of cream, a three-cheese medley, chives, roasted red peppers, and Italian spices. Served with a dinner roll.

A fresh and flavorful veggie wrap featuring a tomato basil tortilla, sautéed peppers and onions, crisp cucumbers, and a creamy homemade hummus or for the perfect blend of textures and tastes.
BEER & WINE
We are delighted to announce new partners King Family Vineyards of Crozet and Basic City Beer Company of Waynesboro. You will be able to order beer or wine for your excursion at an additional price while onboard. Passengers must be 21 and over to be able to purchase alcohol.
WINE
2021 Brut (sparkling wine) / King Family Vineyard
This lively sparkling wine is produced in the traditional method. Bright and crisp, it is full of rich green apple notes and light toast.
2022 Chardonnay (white) / King Family Vineyard
Opening with notes of hawthorn and sandalwood, this wine is the product of delicate oak aging. Rich nuttiness and fresh lemongrass character are carried through a long finish.
2022 Cabernet Franc (red) / King Family Vineyard
Aged for nine months in a combination of both concrete and French oak, this Cabernet Franc offers a smooth mouth feel. The palate is youthful and delicate, but also savory, with notes of white pepper, black tea, musk, red cherry, and violets.
2023 Crosé (rosé) / King Family Vineyard
A dry, Merlot-based rosé is fresh and crisp with notes of grapefruit, lime, watermelon, and a light grassiness. Friendly with lighter fare.
CRAFT BEER
Our Daily Pils (Pilsner) / Basic City Beer Co.
A contemporary take on the classic German Pilsner. This is a Saaz hopped unfiltered Pilsner, naturally carbonated and with a crisp light biscuit. It’s an everyday, anytime beer. ABV: 4.7%
The 6th Lord (IPA) / Basic City Beer Co.
Sweeter and more aromatic than a traditional West Coast IPA, this beer brings the best of both West and East Coast traditions. It’s got a nice balanced citrus flavor with a subtle malt backbone.
ABV: 5.3%

Aboard the Virginia Scenic Railway, you’ll get a front-row seat to some of Virginia’s prettiest views, including the legendary Shenandoah Valley and the Blue Ridge Mountains. Depending on the excursion you choose, you’ll roar through tunnels, speed over bridges, race past scenic fields and forests, and climb over mountains.
